Demographic Developments in Greece during the 21st Century.
The scope of the project is the study of demographic developments in Greece from 2000 to the present. The objectives of the project are:
a) To conduct a quantitative analysis and visualization of the changes in the intensity and timing (calendar) of core demographic phenomena (Fertility, Mortality, and Migration) during the period under review.
b) To investigate the existence of differential demographic behaviors, which are masked by overall/national averages and are attributed to socio-demographic (such as citizenship, occupation, and educational attainment) and geographical (at the regional level) characteristics of the population.
c) To develop cartographic backgrounds that facilitate the longitudinal (over time) comparison of these phenomena.
d) To examine the degree of correlation between demographic developments over the last twenty years and significant socio-economic events that occurred during this period, such as the financial crisis, the refugee crisis, and, more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.
