The programme is implemented by\u00a0<strong>Technopolis City of Athens<\/strong>, in collaboration with the\u00a0<strong>Directorates of Primary Education of A\u0384 Athens<\/strong>\u00a0(Environmental Education and Cultural Affairs), the\u00a0<strong>Directorate of Secondary Education of A\u0384 Athens<\/strong>\u00a0(Environmental Education), and the\u00a0<strong>Athens School of Fine Arts<\/strong>\u00a0(ASFA Liaison Office).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of the programme is to draw the attention of the school community to the concept of&nbsp;<strong>citizenship<\/strong>&nbsp;and to encourage the development of&nbsp;<strong>active citizenship skills<\/strong>&nbsp;among children, providing them with appropriate stimuli to better understand their city, learn to appreciate it, and actively contribute to its protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acknowledging the need to move from a closed educational system to a contemporary, open network for the exchange of ideas, proposals and good practices\u2014one that remains in constant dialogue with society and encourages initiative, personal development and&nbsp;<strong>lifelong learning<\/strong>\u2014the programme&nbsp;<strong>\u201cThe Child, the City and Monuments\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;seeks to foster meaningful interaction with the national educational community (teachers, students and relevant institutions), local communities, as well as exchanges with European countries implementing similar programmes and approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, following an invitation, a discussion was held on&nbsp;<strong>11 February 2026<\/strong>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>Technopolis City of Athens<\/strong>, focusing on the operation of the&nbsp;<strong>Social Atlas of Athens<\/strong>&nbsp;and its use as a teaching tool in schools. The discussion was moderated by the Atlas editors&nbsp;<strong>Th. Maloutas<\/strong>&nbsp;(Emeritus Researcher, National Centre for Social Research \u2013 EKKE; Emeritus Professor) and&nbsp;<strong>S. Spyrellis<\/strong>&nbsp;(Researcher, EKKE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through this collaboration, the Social Atlas of Athens and LaSTcity aim to&nbsp;<strong>strengthen the connection between the research community and education<\/strong>, both at the primary and secondary levels, and more broadly with society as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Athens Social Atlas\u00a0and\u00a0LaSTcity\u00a0participate in the programme\u00a0\u201cThe Child, the City and Monuments\u201d, an initiative of the\u00a0Municipality of Athens.
